KMOMA’S Appeal to Donors

It would not be incorrect to state that from the age of Renaissance in Europe and up to modern times, museums all over the world have come up with a generous quantum of State support, on the one hand, but also equally and more significantly, with the support of art lovers, institutions as well as individuals whose generous donations have helped museums to be established and operated.

KMOMA is not an exception to this world-wide pattern. The project has received significant support from the Government of West Bengal. But the Government of West Bengal has numerous other priorities, all meant for the welfare of the people of the State, and the extent of State support for KMOMA cannot be unlimited. A project of the magnitude of KMOMA must necessarily rely on the support of all other institutions, private and public, and individual donors, both large and micro. KMOMA is fortunate that companies in India are in a position to provide support to KMOMA, under their Corporate Social Responsibility programmes. KMOMA looks forward eagerly to receive such support. This assistance from various companies will enable KMOMA to build up the corpus of funds required for the construction of the Art Centre, which is the main museum building. KMOMA will also require support to meet annual recurring expenses. KMOMA does not have any major revenue source. It is a project purely for public benefit, and art exhibitions will be open to the art loving public of West Bengal with free entry. There will be free programmes for schools to visit the museum, not only to see art on display, but also to engage in a variety of art related projects.

KMOMA needs your support.
